Get a dose of Anti-Poverty

Screen Shot 2017-10-18 at 10.46.18 AMAnti-Poverty Week encourages Australian charities and the public to organise, or take part in, an activity aimed at highlighting issues of poverty here in Australia. It was established in Australia as an expansion of the UN’s annual International Anti-Poverty Day on 17th October and in 2017, Anti-Poverty Week runs from 15th to 21st October.

Foodbank launched its Hunger Report on World Food Day, 16th October, during Anti-Poverty Week, to put a spotlight on the issue of food insecurity and hunger in Australia. Hunger is perceived to be something that occurs in developing countries around the world, with many finding it hard to believe this could be an issue in “the lucky country”.

The launch of the Foodbank Hunger Report has garnered significant media and advocacy opportunities each year, attracting substantial exposure for the issue, as well as the activities of Foodbank and its partners who help in the mission to end hunger in Australia.

Foodbank have created their own green juice called Dose, which reveals itself to be called Dose of Reality when the person drinks the green juice. The more they drink, the more statistics and facts are revealed about food insecurity in Australia, with the call to action being “food insecurity is the food trend you should be following.”
